Introduction
In October 2003, a group of Newar, under leadership of Mr. Pancha N. Maharjan, visioned and organized Mha Puja in Asian Village Restaurant in Hong Kong. It was a huge success for an initial concept of establishment of Newar Society. In mid 2004, under guidance of Mr. Anar R. Bajracharya, an association was officially formed under chairmanship of Mr. Rajendra Kumar Shrestha and was named Newar Samaj Hong Kong (NSHK). The newly formed ad-hoc committee started organizing celebration for different festivals. In 2005, the society was finally registered in the Society Registration Office officially.
In effort to preserve and uplife the culture and tradition of Newar amongst Newars, NSHK organized various cultural program as well as festival celebrations during the period. To showcase our culture, various people and guests were invited to witness the event. NSHK is non-political, non-profitable, non-religious and non-discrimination association which will not discriminate any members in any factors.
In August 2006, NSHK held the first annual convention where steering committee was disolved and new executive committee was elected for next two years.
