October 24, 2006: Newar Samaj Hong Kong organized a Mha Puja and New Year Nepal Sambat 1127 celebration on October 23rd, 2006 at India Club party hall in Jordan. We received more than 150 members and guest for the event. Special guests included Mr. Hem Lal Bhattarai (Act. Consulate General of Nepal), Mr. Hazen Rai (Chairman of Hong Kong Nepalese Federation, Mrs Shanta Basnyat (Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation, Mr. Bharat Ale (Ast. Programme Officer of Hong Kong Government Home Affairs Bureau). Guests started coming in at 1800 hrs and Mr. Shiba Pradhan (Chairman, Newar Samaj Hong Kong welcomed all the guests and patrons for the event. Mha Puja was started at 2000 hrs. Under coordination of Mr. Shiva Lal Shrestha, ten members from the guests were put for puja by pick-a-luck basis. All the rituals were followed for the puja and smoothly accomplished. Puja was followed by Dhimey and Bhusya play by Umesh Maharjan and Purna Shrestha. Traditional Jho Bhwoe was offered to all the guests with Chuira, Chhowela, Bhootan,Lain Achar, Aloo Chhon and other delicacies. After finishing Jho Bhwoe, cultural program, under coordination of Mrs. Ranjita Tuladhar (Treasurer) such as Newari Dance, Newari Song, Nepali Song and other songs were displayed for entertaining the guests. Lastly, Bingo (Tambola) was organized under coordination of Mr. Shatrughan Udas. After having winners for Bingo, last round of Dhimey and Bhusya was played by Umesh Maharjan and Swades Maharjan. Having a thanking speech by Mr. Shiba Pradhan (Chairman), the function was officially closed and guests danced till late hours in celebration of new year. At 0200 hrs, the function was completed and all the guests left to their home with a pleasant experience.
