latestnews 27 December In an effort to display the culture of Nepalese community in Hong Kong, organized by HK GOVT, Newar Samaj Hong Kong participated in the event. Traditional "Lakhe dance" along with Newar girls in traditional Newar costume and "Dhimey" & "Bhusya" musicals were demonstration with awesome reception by the audience, both Nepalese and Non-Nepalese. Please Click here for Photos 18th October In Celebration of Nepal Sambat and Mha Puja, Newar Samaj Hong Kong organized Mha Puja and New Year celebration. A ritual of self-worshipping was organized which, indeed, was a demonstration to Newar in Hong Kong and other non-newar who experience a unique culture. Hundreds of member as well as well wishers attended the program and experience the lavish celebration. Some of Newari food were served while maintaining the friendly and cosy environment. Bingo (tambola) was organized while door prizes were given out. This is the 7th Mha Puja celebration done in Hong Kong. Please click here for photos.3rd October As usual, Newar Samaj Hong Kong organized Mohani Gun Bhwoye (Dashain Picnic) on this day in Monkey Hill with attendance of over 115 people, not limiting to Newar but from other ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. The eldest in the community did the honor of blessing everyone with Tika (Sinhun) while everyone enjoyed the environment and delicious feast that reflects Newar culture. Girls in traditional Newar dress added more cultural feeling to the function. It started at 12 and ended reluctantly at 7 due to darkness; otherwise it would go on for another few hours for sure. Local musicians and singers lent their voice and skills to add musical etiquette in the program. Choila, alu achar, alu chhon, and algolveda achar were the favorite amongst the attendees.
